It all begins with being unapologetically you!
Unapologetic is a multidisciplinary, literary, and cultural magazine that responds to the social issues and creative opportunities of contemporary Ireland, offering a reboot and upheaval. The magazine aims to capture a historical moment in the era of BLM, post marriage referendum , and repeal the 8th as we are now moving to a new definition of what it means to be Irish. The magazine aims to give people from minority and diverse backgrounds a space to be unapologetically themselves while simultaneously highlighting the social issues we experience in contemporary Ireland.
Unapologetic is about creating a medium that showcases the cultural richness of the multiple heritages that define contemporary Ireland but are unrepresented in modern discussion. The first issue of Unapologetic is called ‘Change Makers’. We asked contributors to focus on historical figures, moments, and aspirations that informed their understanding of contemporary Ireland.

Founder/Co-Editor-in-Chief
Sandrine Ndahiro is a Rwandese-Irish researcher, activist, writer and editor for Unapologetic. She is currently a PhD researcher in English with research interest in climate change using literature and art from an African perspective. She has published on topics of race, environmentalism and identity.

Co-Editor-in-Chief
Fiona O'Kearney is an Irish-French writer and editor for Unapologetic. She completed her BA in New Media & English at the University of Limerick and works in UL Global Marketing as a Senior Administrator. Her interests are in fiction, poetry, personal essays and linguistics.

Assistant Editor
Anna is a storyteller with a passion for film and writing. Originally from Italy, she has moved around a lot and is currently based in Amsterdam. Curious about the strange human experience and people's clumsy attempts at understanding themselves, after her MA in Creative Writing at UL she strives to be a voice for the misunderstood, creating portraits that represent the young woman in today's society. This is her second issue working as an Assistant Editor with Unapologetic.

Assistant Editor
Declan Mills is a writer, editor and historian based in Limerick. He has been a member of the editorial team of the University of Limerick’s journal History Studies, a member of the organising committee of Limerick Poets’ Society, a music journalist for Tap The Feed and the Guardian, and former Chair of the Board and head of current affairs coverage for UL’s campus radio station ULFM.

Hailing from Co. Tipperary, Saoirse is a student at the University of Limerick. She has been passionate about writing from a young age and has an eclectic range of experience, from working as a ghostwriter to writing school plays to perform. She particularly enjoys writing poetry and is excited to work with this magazine!

Assistant Editor
Jack Trehy is a BA student in History at UL (University of Limerick), where he is also the president of the UL history society. Alongside this, he has hosted a weekly radio program “The ULFM History show.” Jack enjoys writing poems and playing video-games. His first published piece of writing was released in Unapologetic in 2022. Jack can be found on Twitter @Trehywrites.
